Coach
Mike Fay, the founder and president of TTS Sports,
has been teaching young athletes in the Merrimack Valley for
most of his adult life. His love of sports and kids is what
prompted him to start TTS Sports in 1992 and it is this same
love that continues to motivate him a decade later.
Mike
takes a “hands on” approach to instruction in every TTS Sports
program. He believes that every player should be given the
chance to excel as an athlete by receiving positive reinforcement,
regardless of skill level.
Mike
has enjoyed athletics for almost as long and he can remember.
Mike was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, and spent his childhood
in Salisbury Beach. At Triton High School, he played football,
basketball, baseball and hockey. As young man, he was a dedicated
Celtics and Bruins fan. Mike's love for playing and following
sports fueled his desire to continue on in the world of athletics
after attending prep school.
Mike
received his first coaching job in 1972 as the assistant goalie
coach for the Byfield Youth Hockey League. He then went on
to found the Salisbury Minor League (baseball), which is still
running today. Other coaching positions that followed were:
- Head Coach for the Bordertown
Youth Hockey Team
- Football Coach for Hampton
Youth Football
- Freshman Football Coach for
Central Catholic High School in Lawrence
- Director of Andover Football
Camp at Phillips Academy
- Assistant Football Coach at
Governor Dummer Academy
- JV Baseball Coach at Governor
Dummer Academy
- Head Baseball Coach at Sanborn
High School
- Basketball Coach at Sanborn
Middle School
- Head Football Coach for New
England Storm of the NWFL (National Women's Football League)
- (Current) Owner and Head Coach
of Mass Mutiny also of the NWFL
Mike
started his TTS Sports programs at Cedardale in Haverhill.
His very first program was a successful baseball clinic, which
led to fall basketball clinics, winter basketball leagues,
February and April vacation camps and summer sports camps.
During the years that followed Mike continued to grow TTS
Sports by reproducing his popular Cedardale programs in other
towns in the Merrimack Valley. What started as one program
in one location, has grown into dozens of programs in 10 locations,
serving more then 3,500 children in Merrimack Valley and beyond!
To
Mike it's all about passion—passion that he passes on to the
kids he coaches.
“I'm
passionate about giving kids the chance to experience the
fun that sports can bring to their lives,” said Mike. “The
fun is rooted in skill development. Helping a player to advance
in skills is giving a child something that they will always
have. To me, that is very fulfilling.”
TTS stand for T hat's
T he S pirit! And this
positive philosophy serves as the foundation for all of the
TTS Sports programs.
